Dear Dale,
It
is spring, and the questions from parents struggling to figure out what
to do next are coming in by the droves. Homeschooling has come a long
way, and the result is many options for preparing our students for
college and life. But with options come decisions and often confusion.
While
we are a provider of math curriculum - our mission from the beginning
was to help parents muddle through the options to get the best choices
for the individual family. The most common advice to parents when
struggling over curriculum is to take the long view. What is the goal?
Where are your students heading? College or not? Science, technology,
medicine, engineering, liberal arts, business, or other?
In
fact, we would like to hear from you. What are your issues in planning
for the future? Are you more concerned about scholarship, college
acceptance, or helping your students find the right career path? What

When do I start algebra?
A common question we get from homeschooling families is "When do I
start algebra?" Sometimes this question is more of an issue of "what do
I do now?" when they have reached a point in 5th or 6th grade and do
not know where to go. Many families are disappointed with the current
math curriculum and cannot see how to get out of the trap where one vendor
has you on a path from 1st grade to 12th grade.

Jacob's Algebra on DVD!
Yes, we have succumbed to the pressure. After MANY requests we are releasing Algebra based on the textbook Elementary Algebra , by Harold R. Jacobs.
We plan to release the course by June 1, 2008. Currently we have filmed the entire course and the production team is editing.
The course details will be updated - including video clips - as we get them ready.

Veritas to carry geometry and algebra
AskDrCallahan
has signed an agreement with Veritas Press. Starting this summer,
Veritas will carry our DVD material for Algebra and Geometry. Lamp Post
Homeschool Store will also continue to carry our products.
