Dear Dale,
By popular demand - we now have Algebra! Yes
- you asked for it and we delivered. After doing a course in Geometry
using Jacob's textbook we had an outcry to do the same for Harold
Jacob's Algebra book. So ... here it is!
The
algebra course is taught by Cassidy - our daughter. Cassidy has a love
for both math and English - an odd breed that is. She has been teaching
math from prealgebra to Algebra II with Trig for the last 5 years in
both the homeschool and private school settings. Since she relates so
well to the kids - we decided to make her the face of the Algebra
product.
We have 3 demos for you.
We are excited to see such an early response to Algebra. We have
already sold out of our first two production runs! But, now we have
plenty more! | ORDER HERE

- How do I help my child find their passion?
- How do universities see your child?
Please continue to express your
concerns to us. What are your issues of planning for the future? Are
you more concerned about scholarship, college acceptance, or helping

Geometry - A study in logic!
Did
you know that geometry is one of the oldest forms of math? It dates
back to Babylon around 3000 BC. By 300 BC the subject had been
completely organized and was being studied - much to the credit of
Euclid (c. 325-265 BC), of Alexandria. It is widely thought that Euclid
was a student of Plato.
Also - did you know many people HATE
geometry? I use caps because that is the feeling many express. I too
hated geometry! When I took it in high school, geometry was abstract
and loaded with proofs that seemed unrelated to anything. I know, some
of you will argue that "geometry is the basis of all logic and proofs
are essential to developing logical thinking!"
Well I agree -
but I would like to offer a better way than having your son or daughter
hate geometry and logic - as many end up doing in the standard rigid
geometry courses.
First - use Jacobs. His text does a great
job of relating geometry to the real world - which very few geometry
books do. (We know - we looked for them!)
Second, have them do a
logic course ALONG WITH geometry. A good logic course will parallel
geometry perfectly and allow them to see the concepts of reason and
logic applied in math as well as in everyday life - such as politics
and religion!
By taking this approach your student gets the
best of both worlds - a true understanding of geometry and how it
relates to the REAL world as well as a solid understanding of logic.
The wonderful synergy is that they will see math and logic tied
directly together!
