Dear Dale,

Our oldest daughter, Cassidy, is now engaged and our second daughter, Catrina, is in Japan on a short term missions trip. Needless to say, we have learned a lot about relationships while helping our daughters with these experiences. Funny how we always think we know and understand - then God takes us deeper into a knowledge we never expected.

With our new perspective on relationships, we began to consider our relationship with you, our customers. Our initial mission with AskDrCallahan was to provide a ministry to families who needed help preparing their children for college in the area of mathematics. While this goal has brought us many rewarding moments, the questions and comments you have asked or given combined with our own life experiences have given us a better understanding of what the needs really are for many homeschooling parents.

As a company, we are seeing the importance of math, science, and even languages come to fruition in light of education. As we are becoming increasingly aware of our changing work economy, some of our assumptions have been challenged, or even changed, about college, the need for college, and the future careers of our students. See the blog for some of these thoughts. Also check out the EngineeringYourCareer site/webinar below.

We would like to thank those who have answered our surveys about future products. We have been surprised by the demand for other sets of products and we are now looking at how to accommodate those requests. If you have more questions, comments, or requests, please contact us. Math and Relationships

Have you ever thought of math as a study of relationships? Well, that is exactly what it is. Equations and graphs show us how two or more things are related. Whether it be a scientific relationship such as pressure vs temperature or an economic relationship like sales prices vs number of sales what we see is relationships.

When we teach math we often get caught up in the raw technical aspects of mathematics and rarely step back to ask what we are relating and what these relationships mean.
While the raw elements of "doing math" are important, they are not nearly as important as understanding the concepts of math and how they relate to the relationships of the real world.
Feel free to contact us with any questions.

We're here to help you!

Sincerely,

Dale Callahan
