About Algebra

Algebra is where math begins to be applied. Students will learn how to take what used to be merely number crunching and apply those skills to accomplish a real solution. They start with a review of basic concepts, and move into more logical and abstract mathematics. They cover topics such as

• The Integers
• The Rational Numbers
• Equations in One Variable
• Equations in Two Variables
• Simultaneous Equations
• Exponents
• Polynomials
• Factoring
• Fractions
• Square Roots 
• Quadratic Equations
• The Real Numbers
• Fractional Equations

The last two chapters of the textbook cover inequalities, as well as number sequencing. These last two chapters are optional for the AskDrCallahan course. Chapters listed as optional were chosen to be optional because they either A) are covered in a directly following course, or B) are not required concepts for a college level course. If you choose to cover optional chapters, we will fully support your decision.

• Printed Teacher's Guide. Coil bound paperback. This is NOT the same thing as the teacher's guide Jacobs wrote to go wtih his book. The printed teacher's guide that comes in this bundle includes the AskDrCallahan teaching method suggestions, tests, test grading guides, resources, activities, as well as syllabus and homework assignments. This material is available for free pdf download on our website, as well as from the firsk disk in the dvd set.
